OBJECTIVES
The workshop tries to show a current overview of different uses, developments and technology that makes use of SOUND in order to exert social control and power. Our priority will be to provide a conceptual approach to the topic for illustrate its applications applications with live experiences and audio-visual documentation, analyzing the impact and effects of these technologies or its uses and abuses. The discussion and the experience exchange will contribute to the analysis of the effect of sound in human existence enabling a critical analysis on this phenomenon.

The topic will be approached from several perspectives : economic, sociological, historical, artistic, philosophical and political. But our aim is to encourage a discussion about how to aply these technologies to contemporary art practice, showing proposals from artists on the international scene.

DURATION, DETAILS…
The workshop lasts 5 days. The sessions include presentations of projects, practical training and other multimedia elements that will allow to experience the intangibility and immaterial essence of the sound, its power as a weapon or managing emotions (we will use some of these technologies in situ).

The workshop will present documentaries, video-action, feature films and TV programs that analyze the sound from the point of view of the acoustics, the potential war, the perception psychological and other aspects of the sound that normally remain hidden to the public .

THE INSTALLATION
Based on the own production plugin «GIS», the CMS Spip, has been recently presented in differents forums : Medialab-Prado (Madrid, Spain), Arteleku (Donosti, Spain), the II Conference of GIS Libre de Girona or the X Congress of the Society for Ethnomusicology (SIBE), (Salamanca, Spain), the Installation will be a tactile map for the Karlsruhe air offering audio-visual information about some audio devices that serve to exert power, dominance or control over the citizenry.

Google-Maps, OpenStreet-Maps and Proccesing some of the technologies that will be used to build the installation.
